Nabtesco Corporation was formed on October 1st, 2004
through the merger of NABCO Ltd. and TS Corporation
(formerly Teijin Seiki Co., Ltd), both of which
have high market shares and superb core technologies
in their specific business fields as manufacturers
of mechanical systems and components.
Accelerating making the best use of the merits of
integration, Nabtesco Corporation operates its core
businesses using seven in-house companies, striving
to accomplish highly independent business units
with the aim of becoming one of the top businesses
in the world.
Building
Products Division of NABCO Ltd., now known as "NABCO
Company" was established as the first company
in Japan to manufacture automatic doors for commercial
and industrial use. The first unit was installed
at the main entrance of NABCO's own Headquarters
in 1956. At that time, it was common for automatic
doors to swing open, while in Japan buildings traditionally
used sliding doors. Seizing this opportunity, we
developed automatic entrance systems for manual
sliding entranceways. "NABCO" has evolved
from pneumatic and hydraulic mechanisms to electro-mechanical
systems in order to satisfy rapidly changing market
requirements. "NABCO" is proud to be recognized
as the pioneer in automatic entrance systems.
Currently,
we manufacture around 65,000 automatic entrance
systems yearly, enjoying substantial market shares
of 43% at home and 15% overseas. In 1999, total
production units since 1956 reached 1,000,000.
Our
international business activities began in the 60's,
when we started building our global sales network.
In addition to exporting through local distributors,
we also subsequently acquired an American manufacturer
called LANSON Industries (Gyro-tech), changing the
corporate name to NABCO Entrances Inc. In 1995 we
commenced a joint venture in Beijing with a Chinese
corporation, which became our wholly owned subsidiary
in 2005, called NABCO AUTODOOR (BEIJING) Co., Ltd.
In cooperation with these partners, our global business
has been rapidly increasing.
Today, "NABCO" is a leader in the automatic
door business. Our state-of-the-art technology
makes urban life more convenient with products
such as automatic doors systems and platform screen
doors that enhance comfort and safety in train
stations, as well as our "CircleStar"
Rotary Entrance System, which permits wheelchairs
to pass through easily. Adding electro-mechanical
control to traditional hydraulic and pneumatic
fluid control, "NABCO" offers a wide
array of door automations from interior partition
doors to huge radiation shield doors for nuclear
power plants.
